When people are young, most
of them are carefree or busy with their career or other activities. But as they
grow old and reach the age of 50 years, reality dawns on them about old age.
They remember their parents or uncles and aunts growing to be senior citizens
and the changes they noticed in their physical and mental state. They now
realize the same is going to happen to them.
I received this interesting
post from a reader detailing the three stages of life after retirement. It
makes interesting reading and is thought-provoking. I felt it was necessary to
share this post with our readers, especially senior citizens. This is the stark
reality of life, and one must accept it without any grudge. The author’s name

Prepare yourself for these
three stages of life:
First Camp: 58 to 65 years:
The workplace moves away from
you. No matter how successful or powerful you become during your career, you
will be called an ordinary person. So, don’t stick to the mindset and
superiority complex of your previous job or business.
Second Camp: 65 to 72 years:
At this age, society slowly
moves away from you. Your frequent friends and colleagues will reduce, and
hardly anyone will recognize you at your previous workplace. Don’t say “I
was…” or “I was once…” because the younger generation will
not recognize you, and you shouldn’t feel bad about it!
Third Camp: 72 to 77 years:
At this camp, the family will
slowly move away from you. Even though you may have many children and
grandchildren, most of the time you will be living with your partner or alone.
When your children visit
occasionally, it is an expression of affection, so don’t blame them for
visiting less because they are busy with their lives!
And finally, after 77+ years.
The earth wants to destroy you. At this time, don’t be sad or grieve, because
this is the last stage of life, and everyone will eventually follow this path!
So, while our body is still
capable, live life to the fullest! Eat, drink, play, and do what you like. Be happy; live happily.
This is the fact of life. And
it happens with every person. Many friends suggest, after 58 years, form a
group of friends and keep meeting occasionally at a fixed place. Recall and
share your experiences with each other. Chat and laugh; enjoy the moments.
Remember, loneliness makes you older and ill and can kill too. Be happy and
spread happiness.
Another way is to pursue a
hobby of interest, like travel, reading, writing, or posting a blog, and if
creatively inclined, can post vlogs too. Apart from this, seniors could be a
part of some charitable institution and spend some time there and help with
your experience. Those interested in sharing their experience and knowledge can
take up teaching and some quality time with the younger generation.

Anecdote on Kashmir!
I am narrating an interesting
anecdote that happened at the United Nations sometime in the late forties or
early fifties, and I don’t recall the name of the person who gave it back to
the Pakistanis.
In UNO, Pakistan raked up the
Kashmir issue once again, as they do at every opportunity. There was a special
session, and the Pakistan delegation raised the Kashmir issue as usual.
This person from the Indian
delegation rose to speak. Addressing all the delegates, he said, Before I speak
on the subject, I will tell you a story.
He started. As you might not
be aware, Kashmir is named after a great sage, Kashyap. And Kashmir got its
name from this great sage. One day many years ago, Sage Kashyap, walking
through the jungle, came across a pond with crystal clear water. The sage decided
to take a bath and get fresh before meditation.
He took off his sandals and
robe, folded it, and kept it below a tree close by. As he entered the pond, a
Pakistani came quietly and hurriedly stole the sandal and robe and ran away.
Hearing this, a member of the Pakistan delegation jumped up and said, he can’t
be a Pakistani. The Indian delegate asked, why not? The Pakistan delegate
excitedly said there was no Pakistan then.
Hearing this, he turned to
the assembly and said, this is what I wish to tell the world; exactly true;
there was no Pakistan then. There was Bharat; that is, India and Kashmir
belonged to India even before Pakistan was created. Now, respected members, you
decide Kashmir belongs to whom? There was stunning silence, followed by
whispers. The Pakistan delegation was outwitted!
