An interesting promo for SMBs – MBReviews

EnGenius has very recently unveiled what is called the SecuPoint Triad, a sort of products bundle which include two WiFi 6 access points, one 24-port Ethernet switch, two PoE adapters to power up the access points and, of course, there is also a VPN router as the security gateway for the network. The SecuPoint Triad is priced as a MSRP of $799 which is fairly competitive considering the devices that are included.

EnGenius SecuPoint Triad.

The two access points seem to be ECW220 that I have tested some time ago and performed decently well, while the managed Ethernet switch is the ECS1528T. It offers 24 Gigabit ports, four 10GbE SFP+ slots and there is the option to either manage it on premise or by relying on the Cloud. As for the gateway, it’s an ECS510, a Cloud-managed VPN router that’s equipped with a quad-core 1.6GHz processor and it does comes with four 2.5GbE ports.

I suppose it’s a bit of a mismatch with the other Gigabit devices from the Triad, but it still opens the door for future updates. The VPN router supports dual-WAN, dual-LAN (I assume LACP) and there is support for cellular failover as well. That’s besides the VPN support and the high-throughput stateful firewall. So, lastly, what’s up with the two PoE adapters?

The PoE adapter.

I have not mentioned PoE so far and that’s because the switch does not support it, so you do need some extra hardware to power up the two WiFi 6 access points unless you want to rely on power adapters. And it’s far easier via PoE, trust me. That being said, why should you consider the SecuPoint Triad? Sure, WiFi 7 and even WiFi 6E is newer tech, but you do get the option to expand on an existing network or upgrade from an older standard. I have been testing WiFi 7 devices for a while now and we are still very far from a widespread adoption.

So, the WiFi 6 remains very much relevant and far better performing than anything that came before it. Don’t take my words, check out the tests I have done over the years. EnGenius adds a few extra points, such as the IT-free deployment which is true if you want to go the Cloud route. You can do everything from their Cloud platform which also acts as a means to unify all network devices under one solution.

The Diag Tools.

The Diag Tool is present as well, even though under a subscription for full access and it’s a really nice way to monitor the network from afar and perform long-distance admin tasks. So, if you’re interested in this product bundle, check out the promo from the official EnGenius website.
