L’oreal PH inaugurates expanded distribution hub
L’Oréal Philippines inaugurated its new distribution center located in Calamba, Laguna, a significantly expanded and technologically advanced hub through a strategic partnership with Maersk. This strategic investment will service L’Oréal customers all over the Philippines and will propel the company’s growth plans. The hub also embodies the Group’s “L’Oréal for the Future” commitment, reinforcing its dedication to seamlessly integrating environmental and social responsibility and operational excellence within its supply chain.
“In a market like the Philippines with highly engaged beauty consumers, our priority is to bring the best of beauty to more Filipinos in a sustainable and scalable manner. This new distribution hub will enable us to reach that ambition while demonstrating our commitment to quality, innovation, supply chain excellence, and responsible practices,” said Yassine BAKKARI, Country managing director of L’Oréal Philippines.
The new 60,000sqm distribution center is three times bigger than the previous hub and has seven times more storage. It is strategically located in the South Luzon area, in proximity to the distribution sites of major retailer partners, thereby increasing capacity and improving the speed of distribution by over thirty percent. The new hub has a built-to-suit facility that significantly increases the capability of e-commerce fulfillment.
Guided by L’Oréal for the Future’s sustainability commitment, the new distribution hub ensures that its operations respect planetary boundaries and help address social issues like plastic waste and limited livelihood opportunities in the Philippines.
The hub is powered by renewable energy sources and equipped with smart lighting and a rainwater collection system to minimize its environmental footprint. Furthermore, the facility has eliminated the use of plastic in its packaging processes, utilizing Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified cartons and water-activated paper tape for all orders. Additionally, L’Oréal has piloted the use of electric vehicles to transport its products. The hub’s operations also support local communities through the inclusive sourcing program, which provides livelihood opportunities to Filipinos from vulnerable backgrounds.
This development was made possible through a strategic partnership with Maersk, a global leader in logistics, warehousing, and supply chain management. This collaboration underscores the importance of shared sustainability efforts and the power of collective action in driving positive change.
“We are thrilled to partner with L’Oréal Philippines on this project, which aligns perfectly with their vision for a more sustainable beauty industry,” said SP Tan, head of PH, Maersk Contract Logistics. “This partnership exemplifies how shared responsibility and collaboration can drive meaningful change within supply chains.”
